Tough Dog Tuff Truck Challenge 2014 Winners
2014 Tough Dog Tuff Truck Challenge Results
2013 saw regular podium placers David Camp, Malcolm Van Ysseldyk and Tazz Baguley give-up their respective driver seats causing much rumoured speculation about who would take their consistent top-end field placings. 2014 had over 20 new teams making largest number of entrants to date, yet there were many unknowns about vehicle capabilities and new team skills adding to the debate about who’d crack a 1, 2 or 3 place on the ladder. Would the Thorpe’s continue their year-on-year gains, was it time for Team PIRATE to make a come-back, would international talent put the Aussies to shame, or would it a new champion surprise us all. With a wet start to some of the most challenging stage layouts yet, this was anyones game.
In what would have to be one of the most unpredictable field of teams for a few years we commend Michael Justice and Tim Nolan in the Just Customs Jeep TJ for not only building an amazing Tuff Truck (awarded the 2014 Engineering Winner) but also showing some fine skill and driving flare. “Pip”s vehicle control is highlighted through the consistently high stage scores and the biggest winning margin ever seen. Runner-up was America’s Dave Cole driving the OPW Tuff Truck with habitual 2nd placer Nick Finch (Mystery Man revealed) starting a whole round of debate on where the talent lays: driver, vehicle or navigator??? (we’re pretty sure all 3 worked well together in this last minute entrant combination). Andrew Stewart &
Peter Keil in Barzook fulfilled their goal of moving up the ladder from previous years placings of 5th & 6th climbing up on to the podium at #3. Well done to all teams who competed and again to Just Customs – the 2014 Tough Dog Tuff Truck Challenge winners!

Congratulations to winners
We had another great weekend at tuff truck this year, this been our 4th in a row,
I think next year could be even better by
1) placing more toilets around the place , last year there was a number of portaloos spread around, and the limited toilets this year were disgusting and overflowing at times.
2) I was disappointed to line up for 2hrs on friday morning to get merchandise only to find out that the women’s jumper wasn’t big enough and the kids female jumper wasn’t small enough , last years merchandise was far better with more variety
3) possibly change the dates as tuff truck fell on the same weekend as Sydney’s power cruise
4) although not your fault , the police and rta setting up at the gate all weekend to fine and defect anyone with a modified vehicle, engeneered or not was in my opinion a revenue raising dog act, I personally drove away with only a $100 fine however this is the only issue that may deter me from coming next year.
The family section at mud rats revenge was awesome. Well managed, constantly covered access gate, what a great idea! I have a 2yo and it was fantastic, nice and safe for all. Please keep this arrangement for next year. I came to the first in 2001 and every year after until 2009 when I inconveniently got married that weekend! Just returned for my 5th anniversary with my little boy who had an amazing time. Love what youve done to involve the whole family now! Keep it up. Thanks.
Great event, very poor form to have the Police setup with a defect station at the front gate.
more toilets they were disgusting over flowing and smelt real bad
Loved the event as always so tops for the running of the event and the security keeping trouble makers at bay.
Didn’t like the police setting up their defect bay, mates with engineered cars copped heavy fines for stuff engineered and for new mods not yet engineered. Didn’t like the public toilets, no fault of the organisers for the state people were leaving them in but maybe getting cleaned more often could help?
With the expanding field, close to 70 trucks now i think its time to start breaking up the cars in to classes so the average jo’s truck can still compete against the cars with $100k+ thrown onto them? maybe start the day stages the friday aswell to help with keeping the wrap up on sunday on time?
As 1st time visitors, this was a fantastic weekend with my son ( 11 ). The whole weekend was a great success including the 2 night camping. Congratulations to the whole team whom put this together.
Maybe a few suggestions:
* more regular cleaning of the toilets, this was serious bad!!
* having the police outside the gate doing their yearly revenue was a very poor move on their behalve. Maybe a warning on the web side that this is what they do to give your visitors the option on taken a risk getting a fine. I got a $101 fine for fishing rod holders and having a defect vehicle as the result, while a offered to remove them on the spot, only to be told this was a dangerous thing to do where they where standing, would have taken me 1 minute to do. Instead the fine and a comment of “you should be ok to drive your vehicle home like this”
This fine has now cost you me coming back next year as this should have been my entre fee for 2015 and enjoy what we did this year.
I shell be back in 2016.
The main thing you could so to make it better is stop the police from sitting outside and defecting for the stupidest little things like fishing rod holders on bullbars and roof mount spotlights fair enough with the breath testing but they were ridiculous other than that good weekend
People should have known of the police are getting more and more picky so don’t bring your modified vehicle without proper papers, it is supposed to be a week end of watching some of the best Tuff Trucks of Australia. And again the toilet situation was appalling, paying over $100 for the weekend and to see they did not learn from last year they need to get some one in to clean regularly and put more out there for us, Also loved the sniffer dog going around. I’ll be back next year
WHO INVITED THE POLICE. Can’t come agin, Can’t afford the $105 fine for my rear work light. power cruse it is……
Its a shame i had a ball
yeh the police and rms was pretty rough ! good on the cops for keeping tabs on the blower, but come on guys the defects were pretty rough ! try so hard to stay legit and safe but they took it a bit far this year ! A lot of mates bailed ! some one organise a bank robr in singo next year ai ! All aside keep up the family spirit guys good times
