2015 Score Sheet
What another fantastic year of competition for the teams of the 13th Annual Tough Dog Tuff Truck Challenge. We’ve heard nothing but great feedback from the teams as both the courses were more challenging and the huge field of 75 tuff vehicles had increased abilities and resilience. While there were still many breakages teams seem to be better prepared and able to get the trucks back on the tracks sooner – a tribute to the teams behind the trucks.
The biggest “well done” has to go to Team OPW who were forced to make a last minute scramble in the week before the event when their nominated driver Dave Cole, from the USA ,was unable to make it to Australia. Team owner Peter Antunac phoned former winner Malcolm Van Ysseldyk to offer him a position in the team. He agreed if he didn’t have to drive; allowing the nominated nav, David Camp, to take control of the wheel. This was a unique risk as both we’re previous multi-year winners in a truck neither had driving in competition (and without much time to get a handle on the OPW Tuff Truck).
Another amazing feat is Jesse Haines coming all the way to compete from the USA, with very little seat-time he was able to win on 3 driving stages and only just missed out on a podium finish. If he comes back again in 2016 the Aussies will be in some real trouble holding on to their places at the top of the ladder.
There are many great stories from the teams at this years event. Stay tuned and subscribe as we feature many on our YouTube over the coming months – and look out at newstands for the 3rd instalment of the Tuff Truck Challenge magazine coming soon.
We congratulate all teams on a smooth flowing event and a great effort at attempting the tuff stages we threw at you. We hope you’ll be back again next year for more surprises and more extreme challenges at the 2016 Tough Dog Tuff Truck Challenge.
