The Tough Dog Tuff Truck Challenge returns in 2009

The Tough Dog Tuff Truck Challenge is a much anticipated event on the 4WD Competition calendar, with the event’s return flagged for March 2009.

Behind the scenes a new but experienced management team is putting together a new Challenge. Many aspects have been reviewed and an overhaul of the event will see an even better Tuff Truck Challenge in 2009.

Such changes will include improvements for both competing teams and spectators alike, with a major focus on safety and security.

For competitors, rules and regulations will be revised in a small way for TTC09. However, in the ensuing months a blue print for Tuff Truck rules and regulations for the next 5-6 years will be drafted and implemented. This will enable future competitors to be able to build their vehicles accordingly to rule changes.

Tony and Steve Price take over the helm of Competition Management and are currently reviewing the rules and regulations for TTC09. There won’t be much in the way of changes, just thoughts for better safety. In review at the moment is aspects relating to:

  • Windscreens (will be mandatory)

  • Pre-scrutineering (will be compulsory)

  • Roll cage standards (rules regarding the build will be strictly adhered to)

  • Scrutineering will be worth points

These are the starting points and several more will be outlined when the rules and regulations are released on the Tuff Truck website, come Tuesday 14th October.

For spectators, there will be restrictions on areas of where alcohol may be consumed and a full overhaul of security operations of the event is currently being conducted.

The dates for immediate consideration include:

*14th October 08: Rules and regulations for TTC09 to be posted via the TTC

   website

* 19th October 08: Nominations for competing teams opens via the TTC

   website

* 30th November: Voting for team nominations commences

* 17th January 09: Nominations close

* 8th March 09: Voting for team nominations closes

* 9th March 09: Selected teams for TTC09 announced via the TTC website

Watch out!!

TTC08 Merchandise

Merchandise sales at the 08 Tough Dog Tuff Truck Challenge was an absolute record breaker. Essentially, all TTC08 merchandise was sold out by Sunday and the merchandise team were having to break the news to those that didn’t get their merchandise in time, that it was all gone. Even the stock of TTC05 jerseys and polo shirts sold out!

The event was awash with the green polo's and stubby holders. A Tuff Truck shirt to a 4WD'er is the equivalent of a Holden or Ford shirt to a Bathurst V8 Supercars attendee. They’ve literally become a moniker for the sport! So, keep an eye out for those that attended TTC08, they’ll be out on the track in their greens.

But don’t despair! New stocks of TTC08 merchandise - including polo's, dye subbed jerseys, ladies tanks, kid’s tees and stubby holders - will start becoming available again in the next week or so (polo's and jerseys are about two weeks away). Also, back online will be the famous TTC bucket hats. The only items that will be a little longer away will the TTC08 stainless travel mug and TTC beanie.

Get in early to ensure you don’t miss out this time. Order on line via either the TTC online store or via the Snake Racing website.

You too can look good in your Tuff Truck gear!
